TechLINE articles feature technical information and tips on the operation, maintenance and repair of Carrier's Container and Power Generation equipment.
TL001 - 2022, Container Product Videos
Released: March 09, 2022
Carrier has created a Carrier Refrigeration channel on YouTube that contains videos for commercial and transport refrigeration, connected cold chain and more. Inside this channel is a Container Refrigeration playlist that includes a series of Carrier Transicold product videos to guide technicians in working with and understanding container refrigeration units.
TL002 - 2022, Disabling the Humidity Sensor (Cd33)
Released: March 09, 2022
With software revision 5180 / 5374 (Recip / Scroll) and greater, a code select function has been added to Cd33 to allow the technician the ability to disable the humidity sensor.
TL003 - 2022, ML5 PrimeLINE Controller Bypass
Released: March 09, 2022
The following emergency bypass procedure was written for PrimeLINE model number units 69NT40-571 with ML5 controllers. This procedure is only to be performed if an ML5 controller failure has occurred and a replacement controller is not immediately available.
TL004 - 2022, ML5 PrimeLINE Controller Harness Tool
Released: March 09, 2022
Carrier Transicold has created an easy-to-use tool to be used when checking the harness inputs going to the controller, reducing the risk of damaging the controller pins when probing the system harness. Taking ohm readings of sensors, contactor coils, solenoids coils can be quickly performed utilizing this tool.
TL005 - 2022, Introduction to EverFRESH
Released: March 09, 2022
Carrier Transicold has upgraded the previous EverFRESH unit to a more efficient design. The optimizing of components provides greater serviceability and enhanced reliability. The system design includes an air compressor, water separator, particulate filters, fresh air solenoid, nitrogen solenoid, and a nitrogen membrane. System control and feedback is managed by our new ML5 controller and existing CO2 and O2 sensors. Components are accessible from the front of the unit for easy serviceability.
TL006 - 2022, Controlled Atmosphere Initialization (pre-gassing)
Released: March 18, 2022
The purpose of this procedure, in alignment with the use of Carrier XtendFRESH™ (Cd43) and EverFRESH™ (Cd71) modified and controlled atmosphere systems, is to create optimal conditions that have been studied and shown to slow the ripening cycle of some of these commodities by the use of pressurized nitrogen (N2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) gas cylinders.
TL007 - 2022, ML5 Battery Handling
Released: March 22, 2022
With the ML5 controller (Model 69NT40-571-XXX) Carrier Transicold released Lithium battery packs (Standard Battery Pack, p/n 79-66081-20 and Extended Life, p/n 79-66085-20) that are shipped with a 30% state of charge (SOC) due to current shipping restrictions.
TL008 - 2022, ML5 Model Number Configuration
Released: March 22, 2022
With the ML5 controller, we have implemented a model number lock feature for model numbers 69NT40-571-113 and -123. Once either of these model numbers are entered within the controller, code select 20 locks and the user is no longer allowed to make any other model number change to the controller.
TL009 - 2022, Condensate Drain Cleaning
Released: August 23, 2022
Recently we have received reports of the condensate drain clogging on some older model units. To prevent this from occurring, it is recommended in the 62-10327 annual maintenance guide that the drain be flushed out using a low pressure water hose.
TL010 - 2022, AL03 Troubleshooting on NaturaLINE Units (69NT40-601)
Released: August 23, 2022
If experiencing an active AL03 - Loss of Superheat Control, then it is recommended that the first step to fault finding this alarm is to verify proper Electronic Expansion Valve (EEV) operation. The following guidelines are to be used in troubleshooting the circuit from the controller to the EEV.
TL011 - 2022, NaturaLINE Compressor Icing
Released: December 9, 2022
Compressor icing can occur on the suction line and the compressor end bell when running at low cargo setpoints at lower ambient and higher humidity conditions.
